Synopsis:
After twelve years, Mileyh learns that her cat she believed to be male is female. This discovery unsettles the cat’s identity and the gendered language that organized their relationship.
The cat becomes a “postmodern monster” because the human system of classification sustaining the relationship collapses, not because the cat has changed. It occupies an ambiguous position: neither human nor animal, male nor female, nor fully classifiable.
The work exposes the limits of anthropocentric language and knowledge. The central question is not which designation is correct, but why humans demand a linguistic answer from a cat. No answer is possible, because we cannot know what the cat wants or how it understands itself.
